As part of the annual Heritage Celebration, SAPS Reitgat under Sector 5 invited stakeholders to participate in the planning and preparation of a heritage event held at Tiyamoko Primary School, located in Soshanguve Block FF. The event took place on 10 October 2025, from 09:00 to 14:00.
The primary aim of the event was to address pressing social issues affecting both the local community and the police. These included substance abuse, child-headed families, challenges faced by the elderly, and other social concerns. At the same time, the event sought to uplift community morale by embracing and celebrating South Africa’s diverse cultures as part of the heritage commemoration.
Various stalls were set up to provide refreshments, creating a welcoming and inclusive environment. Community members actively participated and displayed high morale through African poetry recitals, traditional dances, and open discussions. These activities encouraged community engagement, dialogue, and collaboration, allowing residents to voice their concerns and contribute to possible solutions.
Overall, the event successfully combined cultural celebration with community awareness and social development, strengthening relationships between SAPS and the local community.
